There are several different lists of the “most wanted DX countries” on the internet.

 

Here is the current list of the 20 most wanted DX countries, based on data from Clublog.org (February 2026), one of the most reliable sources in the amateur radio community.

What are the reasons for the sometimes different lists?

 

  • Sources and data:

    • Different data sources: Each list is based on reports and surveys from various radio amateurs around the world. Organisations such as Club Log, DX Magazine and DX World compile their lists based on their own surveys, log data and feedback from the community. As the participants and their preferences may vary, these different data sources lead to slightly different results.

 

  • Methodology of compilation:
    • Different survey periods: Some lists are based on annual surveys, while others are updated at irregular intervals. The methodology for collecting and weighting the data may also vary, resulting in different country rankings.

 

  • Different target groups:
    • Some lists focus on feedback from specific regions or continents. For example, one list may be more focused on the needs of radio amateurs in North America, while another may be more global.

 

  • Timeliness:
    • The frequency of updates: Some lists are updated more often than others. In a fast-moving field like amateur radio, recent DXpeditions can quickly affect "Most Wanted" positions, so lists that are not regularly updated may be less up-to-date.
       
  • Regional focus:
    • Regional differences: Most Wanted entities may vary depending on geographical location. A DXCC entity that is relatively easy to achieve in Europe may be extremely rare in Asia or North America, and therefore may be ranked differently on different lists.
